To Stinky Face

Dear Stinky Face,

Thank you for the amazingly, noise zuzu pets. They have been well loved among the kiddos of Lubbock. Unfortunately, the last two survivors dies today. We had a burial service in your honor, which took place by the trash can.

Your Sorrowing Niece,
Maggie

The best kids in the world

I know that everyone thinks that their kids are the cutest, sweetest, brightest, blah, blah, blah kids in the world. I let you on a little secret, my kids are the cutest ones in the world. Seriously, I love these munchkins so much I fear that I might squeeze their guts out when I hug them and suffocate them with my kisses. I really hope that every parent feels that about their children.

These next two days, Mike is in Houston taking the first half of his Step 2 exam, meaning I get a lot of one-on-one time with these guys. Maggie must know that Mike is gone because she has been extra sweet today. I feel like I have to keep busy all day so that we don't get bored at home and start losing patience with each other. We went to a friend's house in the morning and the park in the evening. My favorite time of the day is from 1-4 because the first hour, Sam and I get to chill together while Maggie naps. I usually can get a lot of smiles from him. Then we cuddle together until he falls asleep. On good days, I have an hour to myself (today was only 10 minutes). When Maggie wakes up, we get our time together. I love cuddling with her on the couch while we read books. We will do art projects or preschool activities. I know this post is scattered. I guess I just want to give a shout out to my kids, and thank God for the joy I have in my life for loving them.

Now he is a real Matthews boy with wearing a hat.

Maggie was "playing" the piano and singing the different primary songs.

Two Months

One month

Two Months

I can't believe how fast time flies. I liked how my friends Carly and Nicole took pictures of their kids with a stuffed toy to reference the growth of their kid, so I wanted to do it with Sam. Can I say how much he looks like Mike? I looked through all his baby albums over Christmas and it is quite eerie. This month, he is smiling a lot more, developed a pretty regular sleep schedule, likes watching his sister play, and enjoys all the snuggling that he can get. We love him so much and are excited to see him grow and get bigger (if that is even possible, he is a beast).

We Love Grandma and Papa Matthews

The very day my mom left, Larena came to help out which was so nice. Grandmas are the best. She took Maggie to the park and museum, clean the house, cooked all the meals, and let me run some errands kid free. That weekend, Tom came out to join us. Maggie couldn't be more excited, well I should say that she loves the idea of Grandparents, but it takes her a couple of days to warm up to them. By the end of their stay, she was going downstairs in the morning wanting Papa to read her books (while I slept!). I realized that most of the photos of their trip was taken on their camera, so I will have to get a copy of those when I go out there next.

The Matthews gene is staying strong in the family. Sam, that is the face of your future.

Grandma brought with her this fun painting craft that Maggie enjoyed during General Conference.

Working on a puzzle during General Conference.

We played a General Conference game where Maggie put a sticker on the topics that were mentioned along with taping up the Apostles faces that spoke. Grandma gave Maggie that cute dress along with some other adorable outfits for her birthday.

Thank you so much for coming out to visit us. We loved every minute of it and can't wait to spend two months this fall in Utah with you guys.

We Love Grandma Price

So I realized that I haven't posted about when our amazing parents came out when Sam was born. This post is dedicated to my mom who helped us through an ear infection, runny noses, an ER trip, vomit, many tantrums, but miraculously said she had a great visit. We love you Grandma Price.

Grandma got to spend a lot of time with Sam since Maggie was sick.

It was so fun to have her here for Maggie's birthday. Maggie was talking all about how her grandma was coming to her birthday for a month leading up to it. My mom gave her a Little Mermaid board game, which we play almost everyday.

Each morning, my mom would take Maggie out to play so I could rest and have time with Sam. Feeding the ducks was a repeat trip.

For FHE one night, we went to visit the temple. We didn't realize that the gates would be closed, so we couldn't walk around it too much.

For my mom's birthday, we did The Color Run together. I was really nervous because I didn't know how I would be feeling after having Sam, but it worked out great. My mom is a great walking buddy and loved leaping through the color zones with me.

Thanks so much for coming out for two weeks. You were truly a life saver. We love you mom!
