Maggie's Birthday

We were able to celebrate Maggie's birthday as a family with Grandma Price. Mike had the day off, so we went to do all of Maggie's favorite things together.

Sam joined us in the manner he does best: sleeping. He was a real champ being toted around.

First stop was The Dollar Store. She broke her favorite sun glasses that morning, but they were sold out. Grandma found a ton of princess stuff and couldn't resist. She also got to pick out her birthday balloon that is still inflated and tied to her chair.

Next stop was the library where we checked out Pinkalicious and Fancy Nancy books, her favorite.

We then headed to the pet store where they were having adoption day. We did not come home with a dog, thank goodness, but she enjoyed petting them.

We ended our outing with lunch at Chic-Fil-A where she could run around on the play structure and eat chicken nuggets.

That night we had a "pink and white cake with ice cream". She has been talking about this for the last month. This is how I decorated it.

Mike's family has a tradition of putting candy like skittles and star burst on their cake. Different, I know. But Maggie is a Matthews so I had her decorate it Matthews style afterwards.

Here is the finished product.

Overall, it was a great day. She enjoyed spending the evening eating treats with the Cowles and playing with new toys.

Sibling Love

Maggie was not too sure of this whole Sam thing, but she has picked it up pretty quickly. She has just the right amount of love for as two year to not get in trouble.

Introducing Samuel Michael Matthews

Samuel Michael Matthews was born on March 14, 2014 at 12:57 pm weighing 7 lbs 11 oz and 21 in long. He has lighter hair and looks just like his dad. The deliver and recovery has gone smooth and could not ask for a better birth. He is healthy, sleeping well, and eating way more than his mom can make (foreshadowing of his teenage years?). Mike has been able to stay home these first few days until my mom gets into town. He has been amazing, and I couldn't have done this without him. It has been a crazy couple of days. I joked with Mike that our house has three full time jobs now, taking care of Sam, taking care of Maggie, and maintaining the house. However, there is just two of us to do it, but we are making it work.

Maggie has been sicker than a dog, which made the transition not so fun for her. The moments that she is feeling well, she really likes him and especially wants to help out with changing his diaper. I heard her wake up for a bit in the middle of the night calling out for Sam. I don't know if she was calling out because she loves him and wanted to be with him or more out of revenge for changing her sweet, spoiled life as an only child. Give it a week or two and I think that they are going to be best of buddies.

Our little family went from three to four in a matter of seconds.

Daddy and Son: oh let the adventures begin.

Maggie meeting Sam for the first time. She was more interested in her chicken nuggets and her drink with a straw. What can you expect from a two year old?

His little hands are so cute.

 Right after his first bath.

Mommy and Son: let's hope I can survive all his crazy shenanigans.

Leaving the hospital!

Maggie has been given a couple of "big sister" gifts. Our good friends gave her Ariel and friends from Little People. She loves anything Ariel.

He is all boy, and I am surprisingly liking it.

This is literally what he does all day-sleep. Most of the time I have to wake him up to feed him.

The many faces of Maggie

I promise you that I will post pictures of Sam, but right now Maggie has needed some extra love and attention. We did a photo shoot and she helped me make a collage out of them. These are the different funny faces she likes to do: pat your head, stick out your tongue, rub your belly, eat mommy's lens cap, honk your nose, and twist your ears.

Baby Bumps!

Here is me at 38 1/2 weeks. To tell you the truth, I was wearing a different top but it made me look like a whale. I don't need to look any bigger than I actually am. After taking the photo, Maggie wanted in on the baby bump action with her own personal photo shot.

Here is Maggie showing off her "baby bump". She is really excited for baby to come. She loves seeing our friend's baby and help out with getting wipes out for diaper changes. When we go to the library, she wants to pick out books about babies, and she loves to go to the doctor's appointment to hear the "bump bump" (aka heart beat).
