Enjoying the Great Oregon

More Oregon. Let's be honest, when you are there for a month, there is going to be several post on it. Maggie LOVED being outside.

The splash pad was still not open, so we flooded the sand box.

Enjoying the tractor along with lots of wagon rides and swings.

Those animals were troopers. Maggie loved them really hard (including nose picking and eyes poking).

Fishing trip with Dusty's family. Maggie didn't quite understand the concept, maybe next year.

Eating lots of dirt and rocks.

Hiking Silver Falls with Annie's family.

The Finished Product

Katie left town three weeks before I took my licensing exam, so I decided to go after my life long goal of growing a beard. Katie graciously let me get a two week head start. The end product was a thing of beauty. I dreamed that when I saw Katie she would appreciate it for its lusciousness and manliness and beg me to keep it. That was not the case. But I decided that all her anti-beard hatred should not prevent you all from witnessing my God-given ability to strut my manhood, so I post the picture. Enjoy!

Oregon Coast

Every year growing up, us girls would skip school and go to the beach. We have been trying to keep that tradition going with our girls. It turned out to be a beautiful day. Maggie loved the sand and of course the water (our little water baby). I don't know what we are going to do if either Annie or I have a boy, but right now, we like the all girl thing.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is one of my favorites because it is the kick off to summer. Growing up, we would have to spend all day cleaning the house and doing yard work so the whole ward to come over for a BBQ and the ultimate slip-n-slide that evening. Over the years, the celebration has simplified, but it is always still a fun day. This year, we had acitivites at my parent's house. Dusty and Janecce were going to come, but Rita got sick the moment they drove up. We shot BB guns and bow and arrows, had a creative veggie face contest for snack, lots of arts and crafts, and hot dogs for lunch.

The girls were excited the the bow said "Brave" on it. We all pretended that we were Merida.

Maggie's first time shooting a gun.

Here are the results from the contest:

Dad's (simple but sweet)

Mom's (too creative for the rest of us)

Joe's (best ears)

Annie's (hariest)

Hailey's (Juicest smile)

Brooklyn's (rosiest cheeks)

This is what happens when there are only girls: lots and lots of art.

Cousin Fun

Oregon has been such a blast. I have loved seeing Maggie play with grandparents and cousins. We visited Gibert House, OMSI, went swimming in Woodburn, enjoyed walks and shopping trips, and continued the Girls Day to the beach.

One of Maggie's favorite activity outside is the swimg.

First time in a car cart. Those things take real muscle to manuver.

Maggie has developed a love of cars from the boys. She even makes the "zoom" sound.

Brooklyn was so cute and patient with Maggie, letting her pick the activities at Gilbert House.

Don't be fooled by the dino slide. It gave Maggie her first black eye.
